Question : I have head & chest congestion with productive coughs. Taking mucinex XXXXXXX em 1200 mg TID. Phlegm is green to white. This has been ongoing for 72 hours. Do I need anything besides fluid & bed rest? Also vitamin c 1000mg TID.

Hello Dear,

In my opinion you could be suffering from a bacterial chest infection as you are bringing out greenish phlegm.

You could also be having a sinus infection simultaneously as you are feeling heavy in the head.

I suggest you take a course of antibiotics. A suitable antibiotic for a chest infection is azithromycin 500 mg a day for 3 days along with some symptomatic treatment like tab cetrizine and paracetamol.

Take steam inhalation, adequate fluids and rest.
