Question : Hi Doctor

My father (66) is suffering with Jock itch, around his thigh and groin for last 1-2 week.. Using Lotrimin powder spray for last one week and it showing improvement. Can you please suggest any tablet through mouth, which he can take to cure internally as well?

Background : We are basically from XXXXXXX .I am here in USA for last 3 years.. My parents is in Visiting and came USA one month back... .. Father had 1-2 yr back also same jock itch and medicine and cured.

you suggestions will be a great help for us.

I would recommend your father to start with oral antifungals like tablet terbinafine 250 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
This should resolve the infection.
It is a prescription medicine and you need to see the doctor in person to get it.

Also please let us know if have any oral tablet with prescription free..

Oral antifungals won't be available as OTC

Detailed Answer:
He can continue using Lotrimin AF cream.
Oral antifungals are not available as over the counter.
You will need a prescription for them.
