Question : I was just discharged from hospital yesterday and received heparin injections (3). The one site is very painful and has a burning sensation in the abdomen. Is this a cause for worry. It is most painful upon touch
Brief Answer:
Pain related to speed of injection....
Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,
I understand your concern.
Usually, the site of heparin injections would be painful if the speed of injection was fast.
The injections are given in two different parts of abdomen. If the speed of injection was fast on the part you feel pain, then this explains why you have that pain.
Is the site also bruised? If yes, that's explaining your pain.
Furthermore I need to know why you were hospitalized? The main reason you were hospitalized?
If started to feel pain after injection, and if not related to primary cause of hospitalization, then the pain is temporary and will subside by time.
All the best
