Brief Answer:
special shoes

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand that you have rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.. both of the conditions may cause hammer toes...
1. first thing is to control your arthritis and diabetes.
2. Change your shoes - Wear wide shoes with resilient soles, avoid pointed shoes.
3. Exercises such as moving and stretching your toe gently with your hands.
4. Use ice. If toe becomes painful, applying an ice pack 2-3 times a day can help.
5. Pain killers like paracetamol may help.
6. Use orthotic devices. See a occupational therapist.

hope this will help
