Question: Why is daily oral dosage of morphine not helping my pain? I now take 30mg 3 times daily, and it doesn't appear to be helping.

Brief Answer:
You can increase the dose or add on other analgesics

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the history you have shared, the therapeutic effects can vary between different type of pains like bone or skeletal pains may require higher dosages compared with soft tissue pains. You are taking it at 90mg per day currently. It can be increased to every 6 hourly or even 4 hourly in 30th tablets but such higher dosages will be subjected to more side effects. More appropriate approach in my opinion would be to add on another analgesic or two of them including OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or diclofennac sodium after discussing with your primary doctor. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.

I also have Tylenol 4, up to 8 tablets (2 tablets, 4 times a day) for break through pain. I also take Celebrex for knee pain. I really would like a working solution. Suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Increasing the dose to maximum and consulting a pain specialist may help

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Well in that case, that you are already using too many pain meds, I would suggest to increase the daily dose of morphine analgesics to the maximum like 30mg 4 hourly after discussing with your primary doctor. Meanwhile alongwith other pain meds, if symptoms persist consult a pain management specialist to be reviewed for using nerve blocks and other anesthetic or injectable options. Hope these measures help with your troubles. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards.
