Question: I'm 5'7" 250 lbs. I fell and caught myself on about an inch and a half railing. length of fall ...2.5 ft. I maybe bruised or cracked a (the lowest) rib. It did catch my breath. There was some residual pain. About 5 days after the fall., I felt a "pop", 2 inches below my lowest rib. If my navel is 12 o'clock the pop was at 4:30-5 o'clock. The pain is a 9, sharp. It hurts to cough, hiccup, stretch, turn, bend, bearing down ( as in passing gas, or trying to go to the restroom). Is lt likely to go away or do you think there is a necessity to go to the hospital

Brief Answer:
This will mostly go away in 1-2 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more in your case due to fall.
So follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
4. Take painkiller like ibuprofen.
5. Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
You will mostly improve in 1-2 weeks time.
If still not improving or worsening then consult doctor and get done chest x ray and ultrasound examination of abdomen to rule out internal injury.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
