Question : I recently (approx five days ago) inserted a peeled clove of garlic up my anus in an attempt to treat a suspected pinworm infection. I'm uncertain as to whether it has passed out of my body with subsequent stools. In addition to this over the last two days I've had uncomfortable bloating and the sensation of fullness with varying levels of stomach discomfort. In terms of stools I have passed several small, soft and very watery stools with much straining. Last night I took a laxative which resulted in more watery stools, I also felt nauseous and vomited. This morning my stomach is significantly less bloated and I'm hungry but I still feel as though I need to pass stools. Do you think the garlic may have caused an obstruction and if so should I seek further medical intervention?

                                    Brief Answer:
I dont think so
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
First, this is not good not appropriate method for pinworm treatment. However,I don't think that it has caused obstruction since in this case you would not have stool at al. Also, garlic softens in rectum and then can be easily defecated out. Your symptoms are more likely caused by pinworm infection and irritation due to garlic insertion. So I suggest to start antihelmintic course with metronidazole, take probiotics, avoid smoking and alcohol and food that bloats. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Wish you good health. Regards

so the sensation of blockage is most likely to be a symptom of pinworms? The stools I've been able to pass are extremely watery almost as though they are being expelled around an obstruction

yes
Detailed Answer:
yes, I think this is just pinworm: GArlic cant cause complete obstruction and it would be dissolved over the short period
