Question: I would be very, very thankful if you can! I have had an infection for quite some time about 10 weeks..I am pretty sure it is a dental infection. I am not a fan for antibiotics so I tried taking care of it myself with vitamins..I finally went to the medical center & got the antibiotics. I took the z-pack it immediately relieved me yet the symptoms returned 2 days later. when I went to my regular physician he would not give me anything. So I have returned to using vitamins. I have been taking 10,000-12,000 mg of vitamin c a day. It relieves the pressure going on in my head & neck for a while but then it returns..It was in my arms & legs also. it is now confined to my back of my head neck & jaw.

Brief Answer:
Taking juicy fruits like citrus fruits should help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through the details that you have provided. The first thing to mention that taking vitamins continuously is meaningless. Vitamins are substances required in micro amounts and a normal diet usually takes care of the daily requirements. It is only if you have a specific deficiency that it needs supplementation for a few days. The pain and discomfort that you describe, is non specific and a proper and regular exercise regimen is required for dealing with it. It needs to be backed up with hot compress and proper diet. Instead of taking vitamin C supplements I would suggest taking juicy and citrus fruits. They contain plenty of Vitamin C along with potassium which is required for proper muscle contraction.

I do not think that you have an infection. If you had an infection, the white blood cell count would have come up. Moreover the manifestations do not match that of an infection.

I would insist you to get your thyroid profile and fasting blood sugar checked.

Hope that helps. Let me know if I could help further.

Regards

I get plenty of citrus & juicy in my diet I am a vegetarian. I also walk 2-3 miles everyday. I also get plenty of potassium. The pressure in my head is awful today. I can feel it through out my face and behind my eyes like a sinus infection. will a sinus infection really actually elevate the white blood cell count?

Brief Answer:
Take naproxen. Take steam inhalation.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.

I understand the situation. The headache is likely to be due to the sinusitis that you have mentioned. Taking naproxen tablet may provide relief. Also take steam inhalation. A clinical examination by an ENT doctor is needed in order to evaluate the underlying cause.

A sinus infection may cause rise in blood count if the causative organism is a bacteria but no rise will occur if it is due to a virus.
