Brief Answer:
Allergic contact dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to see that you are having a rash while on vacation. The rash looks like contact dermatitis. Your skin has come in contact with something that you are allergic to. To help you already tried the cortisone cream but it does not help. I think you may need to go to a local pharmacy and see if you can get triamcinalone cream. This is a higher potency steroid cream and should help reduce the itch and rash. If that does not work you may need to see a medical provider for a short course of oral prednisone. Usually prednisone for 10 days will help stop the itch and reduce the rash.

In summary
1. contact dermatitis
2. Continue cortisone cream but stop the baby powder
3. If no improvement get triamcinalone cream from pharmacy
4. If no improvement seek medical attention and possible treatment with oral prednisone

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Brief Answer:
Zika virus

Detailed Answer:
The symptoms for zika virus is to have a nonspecific rash with joint pain fever and red eyes. You would get this only after being bitten by a mosquito. The incubation period is unknown but thought to be a few days to a week after exposure.

There is no treatment at this time. The symptoms may last up to 1 week after infection. Now for men there is no concern about any affects but there is fear of transmission of the virus to women and specifically to pregnant women though sex. So if you are going to have sex then I would recommend using a condom for at least 3 months.

Since your symptoms are only the rash without the fever joint pain or red eyes I doubt that you have the zika infection.

Brief Answer:
stay out of the sun

Detailed Answer:
I would recommend that not go out in the sun. The sun will be more intense in Jamaica and will increase your risk of sun burns. Try to stay cool too as the heat will aggravate the the itching.

There are no diet recommendations at this time
