Suggest Remedies For Redness On The Nose

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: I have had rosacea on my nose for many years and control it with MetroGel (very expensive!). In the last 6 months I am experiencing a fairly itchy rash on my back and chest. Little red bumps (hardly see them) that are sometimes itchy, sometimes VERY itchy, sometimes not (mainly in evening). My detmertologist said they were XXXXXXX spots(?) Someone suggested this is an extension of my rosacea condition now to my body trunk area. Is that possible? and if so, does taking tetracycline help? or are the side effects too severe (headaches, joint aches)?

Brief Answer:
Are you currently using the cortisone cream?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This condition over disease or transient acantholytic dermatosis is often not treated as resolution is spontaneous in most cases. Treatment is only recommended when it fails to resolve spontaneously. In this case, we often recommend cortisone cream. If you have been taking this and still do not feel already, I will suggest that we consider tetracyclines. The side effects are not too much as long as the drug is justified. I will suggest you see the doctor for review and personally ask him/her what the prospects of using cortisone cream are.

IN all, get it reviewed. If progress is not satisfactory of cortisone cream, tetracyclines would be considered. There is nothing too terrible with tetracyclines as long as the use is justified.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Let me know if you have any further concerns that you may want us to address.
