Question : Hi, I had an itch on the inside of my ankle. I itched it so hard I broke the skin in a few places. I didn't mean to, I just itched it to much. I have put some Neosporin on it and will refill my prescription for Mupirocin tomorrow. I am attaching a few pics. some pics are AFTER I put the Neosporin on, some before I put it on. should I also take Keflex just to be on the safe side of getting a skin infection like cellulitis or MRSA. Please let me know what to do. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Apply mupirocin cream and take tablet keflex

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints as well as reviewed the attached photographs.
I can appreciate broken skin at places.
I would recommend you to apply mupirocin cream on the affected areas twice daily and to be on a safer side you can take tablet keflex 500 mg twice daily for 3-5 days.
This will prevent any secondary bacterial infection.
For itching take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
