Question : I am 51 yrs. old. I've had 6 DVT's and I have Multiple Sclerosis. I have an IVC filter that was inserted in my right groin area in 2008. I also have an IUD originally inserted to control heavy menstruation. I began taking Tecfidera for my M.S. in April this year. I began having pain yesterday in my rt groin area and have had blood after/while going to the bathroom today. The pain in my right groin is just starting to shoot pain. The blood seems likely to be coming from the anal area.

                                    Brief Answer:
Hello dear. You require investigations
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have read the details. So you have an IVC filter for the DVT and the recent concern is pain and the bleeding. Iam worried if you are also on anti coagulants as it may be the cause of bleeding from anus. If you are on some anti platelet or anticoagulants drugs, they need to be stopped and plasma tranfusion is indicated. However if you are not on these drugs then an ano rectal examination followed by a sigmoidoscopy/ colonoscopy is required to look for the cause of bleeding. A doppler study for the IVC filter is required if it is infected or thrombosed which is causing pain or something else.
Please revert back with the investigations.
Thanks and regards
