Brief Answer:
Need reassessment...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

At the outset, do you have throat infection or just sore throat. All sore throat are not caused by infection, So are you sure the symptoms you have are from an infection. If it isn't infection, then perhaps discomfort is caused by post nasal drip or acid reflux. Steam inhalation, proton pump inhibitor and other measures to prevent hyperacidity can help you.

As far as your wife's problem is concerned, it seems like she has chronic headache>
I request you to provide the following information:
1. How severe are the headaches? Grade on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most severe headache she every had)
2. Is it a dull ache or throbbing ache?
3. Does she have nausea or vomiting with those headache? Dizziness, visual impairment, loss of consciousness, etc., with headaches?
4. Does bright light or sound worsen her headache?
5. Has she seen a doctor or tried treatment for it?

I would like to know your answers for all those questions.

Regards

Brief Answer:
ENT check up....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for providing necessary details.

I would recommend you try aforementioned options and see if the sorethroat gets better. If it doesn't then it can be evaluated further.

Your wife's symptoms are not typical of a single condition. But as the headache lasts for days sometimes + the fact that it throbs and she has sound and light intolerance during headaches, I consider possibility of migraines more likely. However presence of cold, running nose associated with headache also indicates possibility of sinusitis.

Therefore before starting any specific treatment, she should be evaluated further. I will suggest her to visit an ENT surgeon for physical examination of nose and sinus cavity. If deemed necessary, X-ray and CT scan PNS can be ordered. Further preventive treatment can be started after this initial evaluation.

Hope I am clear. If you need any clarifications, please feel free to ask me.

Regards
