Brief Answer:
Mainly a psychological problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Stammering is mainly a psychological problem that usually arises in childhood and adolescence, but gradually subsides with time in most of cases.

It is more prominent during arguments, emotional conversations and may result in headaches too.

As a psychological problem, it is treated by Psychologists mainly.

Counseling, anxiolytics-antidepressants may be necessary for treatment.

Also consulting a Logopedist (a speech therapist) may be helpful in such cases.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
