Question : My daughter is 17 and has tried many ADHD medications and we just started her on 20mg of vyvance .. All these medications make her sweaty.. Her hands, feet and arm pits. Is this normal and will it go away.. Please help
Brief Answer:
Should go away.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
ADHD itself can cause excessive sweating. All anti depressants including Vynase also can cause sweating.
However good thing is that drugs induced sweating is reversible and goes away with time as the medicines are stopped.
However I would recommend you to get her Thyroid profile done just in case to rule out presence of any hyperthyroidism which can also cause excessive sweating.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Thank you..We have had her Thyroid check and it was normal. She only has these episodes when she takes the Vynase . We have tried her on several different ADHD medications and they all react to her the same way. Is this just her body reacting to it? IF it will go away how long should it take? she has almost completed her first full month.
Brief Answer:
Discuss with your doctor.
Detailed Answer:
I do agree that these symptoms can be related to the drugs she has been taking. However, i would recommend in such case to discuss with your doctor again for the lighter dosage if possible.
If he is unable to reduce or modify the dosage based on the symptoms, then you should wait for another month to see if she develops tolerance, and if she is unable to, then another drug should be tried.
