Question : A long football career - 9 years - has come back to haunt me. M y right hand has joints swelling and bending. Pain has moved up from fingers through hand to wrist. What can I do to ease the pain?
Brief Answer:
aspercreme, Voltaren, NSAIDs, and possible opioids
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
You can continue the Voltaren gel. You can also try aspercreme.
Tylenol and ibuprofen will be your best options.
You can also get screened for rheumatoid arthritis which is what is sounds like.
If you can get effective treatment for rheumatoid arthritis then some of your pain will easy away. Otherwise, it is very difficult to control.
I would try a combination of the above options. I would also alternate creams.
Worse case scenario you would need opioids to help.
