First 24 hrs is the most important phase..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern ,
It seems like a post traumatic inflammation of the hand.. Nowthe first 24 hrs is the most important phase in this case..
Yes your doing the right thing by icing it..try to put ice-pack compression over the area for at least 4-5 times a day and keep observing the size, color of the swelling..
You can take simple analgesic like Tab PARACETAMOL 650 mg three times a day after food for the next 2-3 days, it'll take care of the pain..
Try to keep the hand rested and elevated, don't move it for the time being.. also don't rub it at all, as it's of quite deleterious effects..
In spite of taking all these measures, if you still feel that the swelling is increasing in size or difficulty in fingers movements or further worsening of pain, then you need to check in to your nearest ER for a detailed examination and X-Ray of the hand to rule out any fracture..
Don't worry as of now just these things, you should get better..
Take Care
Kind Regards
