Question : Hi Doctor, I have suffered from chronic tension headaches for years now and I have been losing hair at an alarming rate lately, my scalp has been feeling extremely tender and painful for around 6months now and the scalp can be very red, and I have lost a lot of hair on my scalp where I have been getting the constant pain. I have been to a lot of doctors over the years, with a lot of them not taking me seriously. This is causing me a lot of discomfort and anxiety as I am a young man and don't want to be bald due to a result of chronic headaches. I would like for reason or a way to stop losing all my way so I can get my life back on track. My doctor has prescribed me a series of medications such as pregablin 225mg a day but this had no effect. Thank you

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.

Headache is never a reason for hair fall or baldness although some patients do complain of pain at hair roots, accompanying hair fall. Your hair fall is certainly due to a different cause. It could be either androgenetic alopecia or telogen effluvium. I request you to kindly upload a few images of he affected area and bald areas, i any so that i am able to assess the degree and severity of hair fall/ loss and guide you better. You may upload images in "Reports Section". Also let me know, is there a family history?
