Question: I lift weights on a regular basis. However this week I seem to have a total body muscle soreness that is deep and has not gone away. This has never occurred before. I was in a major car accident 9 months ago, but walked away from it. I was checked out medically the day of the wreck. I am simply mystified.

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, since lifting weights isn't unusual so the excercises related cramps at start of a vigorous physical activity after a prolonged rest is less lily to be the cause in your case. That's why it needs to be evaluated with some basic blood work up including serum electrolytes like potassium, sodium and calcium levels alongwith some micronutrients levels like of B12, D3 and folic acid. Meanwhile you can use muscle relaxants like orphenidrine or tizanidine alongwith OTC analgesics like acetaminophen. If soreness continues you can also use gaba pentins after discussing with your primary doctor. Start replacing B12, D3 and folic acid Meanhwile even before the levels arrive and can be continued if any defficiencies are observed.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
