Brief Answer: take a course of antibiotics Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for writing to XXXXXXX this is Dr. Ashish Verma, general surgeon answering for your query. You need to start a course of antibiotic like something from the metronidazole group, plus a preprobiotic, to restore the microbial flora of your bowel to healthy one. Drink plenty of fluids to compensate for the lost fluid. Regarding the foods that you can eat...for a couple of days be on a soft diet to give your bowel a little rest, avoid spicy and oily foods and milk products; eat fruits, green vegetables, cereals. After your loose motion is controlled you can eat whatever you wish, but make sure it is properly washed and cooked... Hope i have answered all your queries. If still you have any doubts or further queries, i will be happy to answer them. Get well soon! Dr. Ashish Verma
