Suggest Remedy For Abdominal Pain And Difficulty Urinating

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Sep 2017
Question: My husband is suffering with pain in his lower abdomen; difficulty in urination. He might have a bladder infection, or possibly "gravel" in urine. To the extreme, possibly a kidney stone. We live 35 miles from medical services so are hopeful of trying home remedy. FYI: we do have a medical appointment scheduled for Monday, but my husband is in pain now. I just administered two Aleve for pain relief.

No follow-ups, but I do hope to receive an email this afternoon at the latest. Thank you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

The lower abdominal pain your husband is experiencing is likely due to urinary tract infection. However, I would like few more clarifications regarding the difficulty in urination he is experiencing.
-Is the difficulty urinating actual inability to pass urine or pain during urination?
-If he is experiencing an inability to pass urine when was the last time he voided?
-Does he have history of prostate enlargement?
-is he on any medications other than what you listed already?

Please provide the additional information, so that I can give a definite management plan.

My husband had a slight inflammation of his prostate perhaps two years ago; however, our doctor gave him a homeopathic (the name of which I do not recall), and it took away the inflammation.

He takes no prescription drugs at all.

Currently, this day has been especially challenging because he has to rush to the restroom to void urine; sometimes also having a small BM void.

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis: Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

The symptoms are suggestive of Urinary tract infection. Urine analysis and culture can confirm the diagnosis
Drink plenty of water to flush out the bacteria
He can also take Tylenol or aleve for pain
Antibiotics like nitrofurantoin is required for treating the infection. So please be advised to follow up with his primary care provider for initiating antibiotics.
You can wait until the Monday appointment as long as his symptoms including fever, pain is not worsening and he does not develop pain in other areas like loin/back pain which suggest spread of infection to the kidneys.

Hope this answers your question
