Suggest Remedy For Accidental Ingestion Of Double Dosage Of Wikoryl AF In Infants
Question: The doctor had prescribed 0.4ml of wikoryl AF for 3 times a day with 8 hour interval for 5 months infant. But by mistake the infant was given 3ml dosage. Is there a problem in this dosage? Pls suggest

I understand your concerns but don't worry. The dose of 0.4 ml is for drops and not for syrup. We usually avoid these syrups in infants due to adverse effects especially respiratory depression.
If your baby was given 3 ml dose accidentally then do not worry. Just skip this drug for next 24 hours and give drops at recommended dose thereafter only if required. Watch for activity and respiration of baby. If he seems to be very lethargic and respiration seems to be depressed, then visit an ER for immediate evaluation and management accordingly.

Thanks doctor. The drops were given at 1pm today and we had not given the evening dosage and till now he seems ok. Is there anything to worry in the night?
