Suggest Remedy For Acute Pancreatitis

Question: I have been diagnosed with pancreatitis. I also know that in my case it is aused by drinking. I will stopbut what else can I do to improve my health? I have lost a lot of weight and am not omfortable at the weight I am.I weigh 121 but am still considered overweight for my 5 ft 1 inch height. I was more healthy at 150 lbs.

Alchoholism and.Gall stones are commonest cause of Acute pancreatitis.
As Alchohol is the cause in your case,you should stop it completely. Complications are more with Pancreatitis.
Weight loss is usually seen in Pancreatitis.
I would like to know the latest values of Serum Amylase and Serum Lipase. They should come to normalcy.
I give Injection Octreotide to my patients with similar complaints along with Antibiotic like Meropenem. If abdominal distension is present, Intravenous fluids have to be given.
Once bowel sounds are restored and passing flatus, normal diet can be taken.

When I was released , I was not given any details on what type of diet I should have nor was I told what my first meal should be once I get home. (I was NPO while there and not given a meal before I left ). I ate crackers, yogurt, apple slices and a plum. Even though I still hurt, its not like before. I have not yet had a bm from that meal but I have had flatulence and a lot of burping. Please tell me what my hospital stay did not because I never talked to a dr; what I know about pancreatic is came from the nurses.
