Question : I have had an acute skin reaction to something in a cortisone injection I had in my shoulder on Monday. I have been prescribed Fexofenadine, once a day and six tablets of Prednisolone in the morning. At night I am itching so much (under my arms and around my groin and inside legs) that I cannot sleep. I understand it may take a while for the skin to settle down. In the meantime, can I either increase the dose of Fexofenadine to twice a day, or take a piriton tablet, at bedtime, or is there something else, over the counter I could get to help me sleep?
Many thanks,
Many thanks,
Brief Answer:
Take piriton
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
I can understand your concern.
Usually I prescribe a non sedating anti histamine like fexofenadine in morning along with prednisolone and a sedating anti histamine like piriton in night.
It will be better if you take piriton instead of increasing the dose of fexofenadine.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
