Brief Answer:
You need colonoscopy

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist to assist you.

Blood in rectum could be due to hemorrhoids, fissures, polyps, colitis or malignancy.
Since you are 87 years old malignancy should be ruled out.

A colonoscopy test may be done to find out the cause for bleeding and to rule out malignancy.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
