Suggest Remedy For Body Rashes In An Infant

Question: 7 month old female with normal WBC but high Lymphs and smudge cells. Tested two times, results are consistent. Looking for next step as pdoc wants to retest for the third time in a few more days.
Brief Answer:
may be some viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
First of all, we need to understand why this test was done? Was she sick with fever, cough and cold, etc?
Because most commonly this happens with some viral infection. Probably the infection has cleared by now and the blood counts will also normalize after few days to weeks.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.

Yes, my daughter had a rash on her trunk when I brought her into the ER. No other cold like symptoms, fever, runny nose, lethargy, nothing. She had been having some reflux but that had been for 3 weeks before the trip to the ER. I have attached her final results from the repeated labs from Nov. 12 with the manual diffs. I hand wrote them because I got them over the phone. 23% smudge cells, high lymphs again. The hematologist just didn't have me convinced as to why this was possibly viral, since it looks like the same way it is if you have CLL. But your response certainly helps. If you have anything to add, please let me know. We repeat again on Monday. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
most probably viral
Detailed Answer:
That rash can be a harbinger of viral infection. Also a 7 month old child can't have CLL. CLL occurs typically above age 50 years.
