Question: Hi,
I need to refer with a gastroenterologist.

I am 25 yrs and female. I stay at home and mostly have a good healthy way of eating home cooked foods including lots of fruits and veggies. I have had this problem of abdominal burning for about 1 yr. I went for treatment and had endoscopy but everything was fine. I continued with medicines and later was fine completely... Now suddenly again the same burning sensation has returned in past few months.
Symptoms:
The sensation makes me to feel like starving
There is no particular timing of the sensation
The burning is somewhere near the upper middle abdomen and when i eat my food i feel a strain in the abdominal muscles
I have frequent feeling of bowel movement which is sometimes watery and sometimes just normal
The burn is not persistent. It comes and goes but cannot determine particularly
Feeling of tiredness is often there.

I need to know what can be the cause and should i have a visit to the doctor
Thanks in advance

Brief Answer:
See Gastroenterologist- investigations and treatment as per diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

Yes, you need to consult a Doctor, preferably a Gastroenterologist for the reasons given below:
Your symptom-complex of burning sensation which makes you feel like starving, without any particular timing, feeling strain in abdominal muscles after eating, frequent feeling of bowel movements which may be watery or normal, feeling of tiredness; all these in spite of good food habits, normal endoscopy and treatment failure indicate that this may be due to IBS- Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

For us to say this to be IBS, all the tests should be normal.
You need to visit a Gastroenterologist for :
Physical examination of the abdomen and in general ,
Order investigations :
Tests of blood, urine, stool, ultrasonography, Upper GI Endoscopy, colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen.
If we get positive findings pertaining to a particular disease, you can then be treated precisely.
IF all the reports are normal, you will be treated for the IBS.

Ultimate aim is to get a proper diagnosis and a plan for curative treatment.

I hope this answer helps you to get started with proper guideline for diagnosis and treatment.
