Suggest Remedy For Burning Sensation In Lips And Mouth

Posted on Wed, 18 Nov 2015
Question: Greetings. Was partying and ended up kissing a girl for two to three minutes. Couldn't see any visible lesions. No sex. Three days later had a burning sensation around my lips and tongue. No blisters or lesions of any sort. Mind you I did have some dental work done ( a filing and a temp.filing for a root canal). The burning sensation goes away after brushing and rinsing w Listerine. It's all but gone. Cant differentiate canker sores w lesions either. Should I get tested?

Brief Answer:
No need to get tested for STDs.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. The burning sensation could be from your dental procedure or anesthetic shot given for that. Oral herpes is possible but as you get relief after brushing this is most unlikely.

Hiv is not transmitted through saliva. But in case if you did deep open mouth kissing with a person who has bleeding gums or sore there is some minute chance of spreading HIV. In such case you can go for oral quick test.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

I started having a light fever and sore throat

Metallic taste is most likely from presence of blood in mouth. This can be from sore throat or tongue or gums. That is also not specific for STDs.
