Brief Answer:
if the diarrhea persists you will need further investigation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

You haven't specified what kind of uti you are suffering from. I suppose it's a cystitis (no fever). On that case for an uncomplicated uti a 3 day course is usually enough for a female patient, so you should adhere to treatment until it's complete.

If the diarrhea won't get any better or if it gets worse then you'll investigation for Clostridium difficile. Regarding your stomach complaints you can only try a drug for the acidity like a proton pump inhibitor. Normally the discomfort should wear off after discontinuing the offending factor.

I hope you find my comments helpful!

Brief Answer:
a UTI with fever is a serious infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

thanks for the additional info!
A UTI with fever involves the kidney and is a serious kind of infection, which needs immediate treatment. Your problem seems to have been caused by amoxicillin/clavulanate. If ciprofloxacin continues to give you trouble then you should talk with the treating physician about alternatives (like a cephalosporin for example). Ciprofloxacin is a potent antibiotic though, particularly against urinary tract pathogens, so my suggestion is to try to complete the treatment.

In patients with such cases I usually recommend taking omeprazole or similar proton pump inhibitors. It may help.

Kind Regards!
