Suggest Remedy For Diarrhea, Back Pain And Headaches After Eating Restaurant Food

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I often feel sick after eating at certain restaurants. Sunday I ate at a popular restaurant hoping that the same feeling wouldn't come over me but it did and seams to get worse with each passing day. I got home and ate the remainder of my meal and suddenly I had diarreia. Then the left side of my head hearts and some pain in my back. Most of all I feel almost like a burning sinsation throughout my body. Does this sound like deliberate food tampering? It often takes a couple of weeks before I feel like myself again.

Brief Answer:
Its Acid reflux.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
You seem to develop Acid Reflux and abdominal upset following food outside. Actually it's not an Infection that's why it's unrelated to the quality of restaurant. So, where ever you will eat you will have the same symptoms irrespective of the quality of the food. As most restaurants serve oily and spicy food, so that causes acid reflux and the symptoms you are experiencing and always do.
At present I would advice you to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone that will help in fighting with the acid reflux you are having.
You can add a probiotic to your prescription.
Just avoid spicy food for a few days and prefer soft, bland diet.
You will get better with in 3 -5 days.
Now, next time you go to a restaurant just take the combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone before you take meals and probably you won't get these symptoms.
So next time when you try this , do reopen this discussion to tell me the effect.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

I partially agree. I have had reflux in the past but never had a headache or burning/tingling sinsation over most of my body. I had severe chest pain. I use to try and walk it off. It finally subsided. Then I discovered just drinking water would work immediately. Last year I started getting this very uneasy feeling and I have not been able to have a normal bowel movement since. Last year I did take Philp Pro-Biotics. It did not seams to do me any good.
I had a very small salad with Balsamic Vinegar and steak Diane of which I only eat half. It was wrapped in bread with only 3 or 4 oz. of meat. I also had Lemon Meringue cheese cake. So do you still think this is reflux after I've told you all the details?
I may not be going to another restaurant anytime soon so it may be awhile before I get back to you.
And oh by the way, it also happens with some food I buy from the grocery store.
I do try to watch my weight. I've lost 9 lb. since January.
I just want to say, that some people today will do stuff to your food and you would no nothing about it. My concern is that I was told this before I started getting sick last year and that no one would be able find out whats wrong. I had a test done last year where they stick a tube down your throat to look at your intestines but it came back negative.
OK that's it, I just was trying to give you all the detail I could think of.

Brief Answer:
Take treatment, you will improve

Detailed Answer:
Hello, See headache, body bodyaches are a part of acid reflux disease. It's not essential that you will feel the reflux every time.
Another possibility is that you might be allergic to some component of food prepared in restaurants like cheeze, gravy, ,eat products or milk products.
For that purpose, you also need to have the symptoms eating the same food items cooked at home. But since you get the symptoms only when you eat outside, it represents that you have GERD.
Let's do one thing. Start my medicines, if you get relief, you have reflux but if you don't get any relief, you don't have.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

I will try the medicine. Is it over the counter? I still have one more symptom. Since Sunday my mouth has slowly gotten painfully sore. My tongue has bumps on it towards the front, and towards the back on either side is sore. The roof of my mouth hurts. I've tried spraying it with Chloraseptic for sore throats, gargling with mouth wash and, taking Motrin. Are these signs of acid reflux or Gerd?

Is this my last question I'm able to ask?

Brief Answer:
Oral ulcers.

Detailed Answer:
Yes you can get the medicine OTC.
The new symptom that you have described also favors GERD. These are oral ulcers which occur as a result of GERD. Other causes being micro nutrient deficiency. Take a good multivitamin containing Zinc and carry on with the medicines for oral ulcers.
Good Luck.
