Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: About 6 weeks ago was awoken by lower back pain similar to discomfort when you experience diarrhea. Got up sat on the toilet felt a wave of nausea & pain. I woke up on the bathroom floor realized i fainted. When I tried to get up immediately became drenched in sweat & my uterus felt like it was on fire & was spasming. Long story short went to ER all tests normal except they found a cyst on my uterus. Two days later I had bruising on the area above my pubic bone & a lump has developed under the skin above my pubic bone. I have obgyn appt. next friday & am terrified. Have been feeling tired nauseous achy & have intermittent dull pain in my pelvic area. What could be wrong? 37 yr old

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Fainting after getting out of bed happens sometimes, when you are tired, exhausted and you get up suddenly with a jerk.
But that does not involve the intense pelvic pain you felt, the nausea etc.
You definitely need to follow up with an OB - GYN.
I have never heard of a cyst on the uterus either.
It could be on the ovary, but not on the uterus.
Can you upload the tests that show a cyst on the uterus ?
Can you send photos of the lump / bruising that you have developed ?
Are your periods regular ?
Have you had such an issue in the past ever ?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I need the details so that I can guide you further.
Take care.

I don't have the ultrasound results but the ER doctor said from the ultrasound they discovered a small cyst about 1 cm on my uterus. Stated it was rare. During the ultrasound the tech made a statement that my ovaries looked healthy.

I have never had such an experience before. My periods are regular as far as timing. What I have noticed for about the past year is my flow has become much heavier & i am passing bigger clots now about the size of a lemon to a small orange at times. This past month was one of the heaviest where I was soaking through a pad every 20 minutes for about 4 hours.

My son was born 3 years ago vaginally pre term at almost 36 weeks. He was fine & didn't have to go to the NICU. I was put on bed rest at 34 weeks with high blood pressure and contractions.

Attached are the pictures of the bruising two days after my visit at the ER. There was no bruising when I was there. The bigger bruise is in the same spot I now feel the lump which isn't visible to the eye jist to the touch and about the size of a large grape.

Hello
Thank you for the update.
The bleeding pattern is not normal, particularly the last month.
You need a complete gynecological evaluation.
It should include an internal exam, Pap smear, pelvic ultrasound scan and hormonal levels plus an endometrial biopsy if needed.
You might be having mild hormonal imbalance, leading to endometrial hyperplasia ( thickening of the lining of the uterus ), that could lead to heavy periods.
Again , I would really appreciate a copy of the ultrasound scan report, that would provide a real insight into the situation.
Regarding the bruising, is it possible that you had a subtle , unnoticed injury.
There seems to be a small boil underneath the skin there, and pinching / rubbing against the area without realizing it , could that have happened ?
What is your height and weight ?
A deficiency of Vitamin C sometimes leads to such spontaneous bruising.
If this happens repeatedly, you should have an evaluation for a complete blood count and the coagulation profile.
That might reveal the diagnosis if a more ominous one exists.
Keep me posted.
