Suggest Remedy For Diarrhoea And Chills In A Person With Multiple Sclerosis

Question: I started having flu-like symptoms 3 weeks ago. At the time I also had bad diarrhoea that lasted 24 hours. The flu symptoms lingered and I was not well enough to go out. Two days ago I felt the flu (virus?) seeming to lift. Then I woke this morning with very bad diarrhoea, feeling shivery, and bad flu-like symptoms again. I should let you know I have low grade MS.
What do you think is going on? Should I see a doctor?
Thank you
xxxxx

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxx.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.

First , it is always good to see a doctor if you are not well.

Second the viral syndrome can happen from a large number of viruses. infection with 1 virus doesn't protect against another.
So this may well be a new virus.

Third. It's not related to MS.
However, some medicines of MS may cause the symptoms.
Since the medicines of MS cannot be held its better to meet the neurologist and see if the drug csn be changed or dose modified.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

The answer I received was related to a previous condition. This is the question I asked:

I have type 2 diabetes and I am not on any diabetes medication. Recently, I have started having bad shaking in my hands and legs, feel dizzy and have some blurred vision. I have not been strictly following my diet (ate ice cream and chocolate raisins) as I had a flu, but my blood sugar is normal. Can you tell me what is happening and why these new symptoms have come on so strongly?

Brief Answer:
Could be episodes of hypoglycaemia

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have read your message.
I think the symptoms are due to relatively normal sugars.
Your body is habituated to the higher sugars.
The occurrence of normal sugars is like having hypoglycaemia for your body.
This may be causing the symptoms.
I therefore feel that you should monitor your sugars regularly.
I think it would be prudent to consider getting a Hba1c tested as well.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
