Question : Some water went down the wrong pipe in the shower. I coughed violently but nothing came up. My chest is uncomfortable now. Is this something to worry about?
Brief Answer:
No need to worry for this.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No need to worry for this.
You are having aspiration of water. Water is absorbed by respiratory tract. But in some cases this can cause irritation, inflammation and secondary infection.
So if you develop coughing, breathlessness, wheezing, mucus expectoration, fever etc than get done chest x ray to rule out infection.
At present, drink plenty of fluids, stay calm.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
