Suggest Remedy For Dull Pain In The Abdomen

Question : Hi. 42 y.o female, very good shape. I have been seeing a GI doc for chronic upper middle stomach pain which can be described a gnawing dull achy pain that comes and goes for weeks at a time. Worse on empty stomach and often relieved by eating. Endoscopy released only mild esophagitis. Neg for ulcers and h plhyori. Ultrasound of organs normal, except significant number gallstones but normal HIDA scan. Liver enzymes normal. Was on Nexium for 3 months, I felt great for first 2 months and then pain came back. I am frustrated. Any thoughts?

Hi and thanks for the query ,

I think nexium was appropriate. It might however be important to know the dosage of the drug you were taking. Increasing the dosage might help.

However, lifrestyle changes remain important here. It might be important to avoid late meals, stressful situations as much as possible , gas producing foods as much as you can like caffeine and spicy foods. If you have identified some foods or situations that aggravate the pain you might have to avoid them . a change in the job or environment can at times aggravate such pains.

If you have not been into any stress or change in job or environment, an increase in the dosage of the drug could be helpful for a start.
