Chronic urticaria
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Based upon your description, the problem your experiencing is most likely Chronic urticaria. Based on the severity and mode of onset, predisposing factors need to be considered including any specific food, drug , clothing, soap or shampoo or any other liquids like detergents etc that you are allergic to. The contents of the product should be examined and other related products containing the same components should be avoided.
As far as treatment is concerned, if you were my patient, I would initially start you on two non sedating anti histamines ( like levocetirizine and desloratidine). These should be used for at least 2 months. If there is a history of an infection that preceded the itching then antibiotics course can also be added ( like Levofloxacin). If the itching persists Leukotreine receptor antagonists can be added. If still no benefit is evident then, CBC, Thyroid function tests, stool for ova and parasite and a skin biopsy should be considered.
Systemic corticosteroids, Cyclosporine and omalizumab are immune suppressants that are resorted to when the cause is not ascertained and the urticaria remains idiopathic.
Please consult your doctor before deciding on any further course of action
wishing you best of health
