Brief Answer:
Consider getting fasting and post prandial blood sugar along with Hba1c

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Blood sugar is not going to be constant number. It fluctuates with time of day, type of meal and other factors. Therefore we cannot be able to figure out the issue without proper protocol.

If your mother had no problems (symptom wise) when she had documented blood sugar of 80, it needs no medical attention.

I would recommend she gets early morning fasting and post prandial blood sugar. Along with the two tests, I will also order for average blood sugar / glycosylated blood sugar (Hba1c) test. These tests are well known and routinely performed tests at most certified laboratory.

Further management can be managed according to tests results.

Irrespective of what her sugar test results are it is wise to cut down high calorie diet, start exercise and keep weight under normal limits. Dietary and lifestyle changes is known to keep high sugars at bay.

Hope I am clear.

Regards
