Suggest Remedy For Fluid Retention In Muscles

Posted on Tue, 20 Oct 2015
Question: Can tramadol 50 MG tablet cause fluid retention? I'm dealing with drug induced rhabdomyolisis due to fenofibrate, and/or drug induced myalgia. Going on for 6 weeks. I have third spacing fluid retention which is very bad in my arms. I've been on Norco which we found a side effect could be fluid retention. Stopped that yesterday. I've been on Lasix for 6 days. No fluid retention relief. Right ear very clogged....took one Benadryl last night per my dr but ear still clogged. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Tramadol is unlikely to cause fluid retention.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greetings from Dr Divakara P
Thanks for posting your query.

Tramadol is very unlikely to cause fluid retention
hence you can take it without any concern .

But you need to get evaluated for the cause of fluid retention . The probable causes are kidney problems, low protein levels or thyroid problems.

In that regard I advise you to get the following test done and revert back with reports.

Serum creatinine, Serum albumin and Serum TSH.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Serum albumin is low.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for the information.

Clearly your serum albumin levels are low which can explain your fluid retention. Kindly continue taking Lasix ( dietetic) for a week more .

Also increase your protein intake so that your albumin levels gets increased . Taking Egg white everyday is helpful.

Also get a Urine protein test to check if you are losing any protein in urine.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.
