Question: Hello doctor I have this single growth on the side of my penis shaft. It is skin colored slightly raised flat kind of almost if I can pull it but not necessarily on a stalk. Very soft smooth. Slight itchy sometimes. It has a hair sprouting through it. Don't cause pain or no bleeding. I am an over weight individual " obese " you can say 360lb. It has been there for almost year now. I have not had that many sex partners in my life but I have had unprotected sex. My penis is pushed in most of the time alot of sweating and rubbing down there when when I'm working, obesity runs in my family, my dad is diabetic. I already talked to 3 dermatologist 2 said it looks and sounds like a skin tag and 1 said it may be a wart or acrochordon but wasn't really sure. I took an std test and everything came back negative. I also went to a urgent care because I'm feeling very nervous the doctor said it looks like a wart but he was very rushed to get me out of there and not really helpful to me when I was trying to ask questions . He said it's a common wart not and std, but all he did was look at it real quick.but dermatologist I showed pictures to online where more convinced it was a skin tag/acrochordon? I Need one more advice to help clear my mind is this a skintag, mole wart, boil,Infected hair follicle, swollen glands, tumor ? I know dermatologist specialties are in skin and the urgent care doctor is not, can you please help

Brief Answer:
You can easily manage the problem in due course

Hi

Welcome to this portal!
I am Dr V XXXXXXX a Sr Consultant Dermato-venereologist.

I have examined your pictures in the light of description that you have submitted.
In all probability, it is a skin tag which is also called as Acrocordon. A skin tag is a simple extrusion of underlying skin layers through a gap in the most superficial one. These are seen more so in obese individuals,(my personal observation), and tend to be without a stalk initially but later on give a look as if the lesion is hanging from the surface with supporting tissue.

Just for your information, warts are viral, infectious, and tend to spread, and bleed sometimes.

It should be fairly easy to get your lesion removed without much pain or rest after the procedure.

I would recommend RF Cauterization or CO2 laser for carrying out removal under local anesthesia which should not be more bothersome than an insect bite. You can expect to return to work the same day and the lesion should heal in less than one week.

To be 100% certain about the diagnosis, you may request your doctor to have the sample sent for histopathology after removal.

I appreciate that you took pains to study your problem in-depth and are concerned about your health.
It has been a pleasure to communicate with you.

Best wishes from our team!

Hello doctor I have q question , if a dermatologist does a biopsy on a bump on your penis or growth on your penis even though say it's a mole or something, will they be able to also see if you have hpv down there? Will hpv be detected on a skin biopsy ? So what I'm saying is if they get skin from your penis and do a biopsy they can detect any condition you might have ?

Brief Answer:
It is possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome back!

You are very right that a biopsy can decide whether there is a wart in the examined tissue. In general, biopsy is a detailed examination of a tissue with a view to see the changes that otherwise cannot be seen with naked eye.

I hope that solves your query.
