Monitor blood pressure;other drugs to be added...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You are reporting a high blood pressure reading of 162/110 while taking metoprolol 50 mg.
I advise to:
- measure your blood pressure (bp) on daily basis for an entire week, record the results to pass to your physician
- avoid coffee, caffeinated drinks (energetic drinks) and alcohol
- avoid oily/fried/ salty foods
- if you have been on such altitude for longer than 2 days, you should be taking another medication (e.g. diuretic or nifedipine). If bp won't stabilize, should go to ER for immediate evaluation and treatment.
If the average bp will be higher than 150/100, then, should schedule an appointment with cardiologist and should run further cardiac tests.
Hope it helped!
