Question : I am 45. I am on statins and my cholesterol is now under control. I have average bp of 133/90. Should I take bp reducing meds?
Brief Answer:
For now, no drugs bt exercise, diet and no smoking!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
A one time blood pressure value cannot be used to determine whether you have high blood pressure and need drugs or not. I will suggest that you provide more readings for proper interpretation.
The first step in managing hypertension is diet, lifestyle modifications and regular exercise. To this effect, eat minimal salt, avoid excess alcohol, no smoking, regular physical exercise, fruits and vegetables. Also, avoid excess fats intake.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
