I suggest a possibility of acne induced post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your query and I have understood it.
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation /PIH is a complication of Inflammatory acne, specially in asian skin, which already has a lot of melanin.
PIH is a non-specific reaction to any inflammatory insult to skin and acne is one of them.
The approach to treatment of PIH is by either inhibiting new melanin synthesis Or by exfoliating already existing pigment Or a combination of both.
Various agents that are commonly used for this purpose in acne induced PIH are Glycolic acid, Azaleic acid, Hydroquinone, Kojic acid etc.
While glycolic acid exfoliates existing pigment whereas kojic acid, hydroquinone and azaleic acid inhibit new melanin synthesis.
Either of these pigment reducing agents can be either used alone or in combination.
These products are available on prescription.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the concern visually and advice accordingly whether your skin condition needs a combination of these agents or any of these alone would be enough.
Your dermatologist may also ask you to take a few sessions of chemical peeling along with the topical treatment.
Glycolic acid is particularly effective in PIH of acne.
Regards
Take care
Good luck!
