Suggest Remedy For Intermittent Chest Pain And Tingling Sensation In Arms With Mild Nausea

Question: Hello, I've been having intermittent chest pain for 2 weeks. Primarily on the left side but sometimes over to the right. Ive had some tingling in my left arm. Mild nausea from time to time, don't think it is brought on by food. Ive also had anxiety which i attribute to all of this. No problems sleeping, and i exercise without pain or increased symptoms. I had an ekg which was normal. I've been to the doctor twice and was told it was probably acid reflux. I've tried medication for that which doesn't help. A side note is I've been off of topamax for 2 weeks now by titration properly. My cholesterol is borderline normal/high, and I have no other risk factors for heart disease. My doctor said I am low risk. Please advise your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms may be due to topomax or non acidic reflux

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in HCM

I can understand your concerns.

Cardiac cause appears to be out as:
1. ECG is normal
2. No risk factor
3. Pain dont increase with exercise
4. It is migratory as it ocurrs on both side of chest

There are two possible reasons for the symptoms you are having:
1.Both chest pain and tingling sensation are the side effects of topomax
2.It may be due to non acidic reflux that is reflux of gastric content in oesophagus or food tube located in chest leading to chest pain that is non acidic in nature. It can be confirmed with a test known as 24 hrs pH metry

Solution:
1. Since you have been off topomax. So symptoms may improve gradually
2. Take a prokinetic agent like domperidone twice a day half hr before breakfast and dinner which will prevent non acidic reflux

Continue with klonopin. Avoid fatty and high caloric diet

I hope I have answered your query aand this will help you. Wish you a good health

Thanks for your response. To add to this, I've had excessive belching for about a month and the past few days I've had loose stools. Are these symptoms still in line with non acidic reflux? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
belching is a part of non acidic reflux and not diarrhoea

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Belching can be part of non acidic reflux but not loose stool. Domperidone as I suggest you earlier will take care of belching also.

For loose stool avoid dairy products for a while. Take a course of probiotic. Get your stool examination for pus cells or bug and if it is there there it will require treatment accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query. Wish you a good health. If you dont have any further query then close the discussion and rate the answer.
