Question : This question is for Dr. Grzegorz Stanko:
I closed out my discussion but want to ask another question. I guess I am confused as to how I could have this contusion with no real pain upon pressing down on spot of injury? Usually with a bruise, you have pain on palpation. Also, why would pain come and go?
FYI--- I asked a question about a thigh (with lipomas) contusion earlier.
Thank you

                                    Brief Answer:
If nerve is injured, the pain can come and go.
Detailed Answer:
Generally when you have an injury, bruise and some skin wound is only a very tiny part of whole injury. As the injury was pretty strong, muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels were injured for sure. This structures are located deep under the skin. So it can be hard to palpate the exact spot of pain. Pain which comes and goes is characteristic for some nerve contusion (temporal). It gets irritate from time to time (due to inflammation, swelling, immune system) so the pain appears and reappears.
Hope you will find this helpful.

You are welcome.
Detailed Answer:
You are welcome. As the DVT is ruled out (I would ask you to do that if it weren't), you are safe with this injury. I know that it would be easier to deal with it having one sensitive spot or wound. But sometimes it just acts like yours. All you can do is to wait.

okay, last but not least. All of this is concerning because of my hx of ovarian ca. And, I have anxiety-- so it's hard to control worry. A while ago (about a month) I started with some weird minute, stinging like pains in my toes, thighs (other thigh;) kind of all over. Very random..........nothing too concerning but weird. I did ask my doc and she said these kinds of sensations are very hard to track down, especially if random. Not sure if it's anxiety.... but, they hurt and are weird. I worry if this is the start of something. And then followed by the thigh thing......well, that is why I jumped to conclusions. Any thoughts on that; and then I'll leave you alone. :)

                                    Brief Answer:
Nerves irritation is rather causing such symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Stinging pains radiating to the legs are due to nerves irritation or compression. If you keep having them like all over, the most probable reason is some ions deficiency (like Magnesium and Potassium). This is more probable if you drink lots of coffee or at least two a day (or caffeinated drinks).
The other possibility of your pains is some spine disc compression to the nerves which travel to the leg. This pains can be random as well. Back pain should be present from time to time. And the pain should get worse after lifting some heavy objects.
If its about ovarian cancer, its hard to discuss about it not having some information (like when it was detected, which stage, what treatment did you receive, what is your last CA 125 result).
But it does not seem to be cancer related.
Please try to start with Magnesium and Potassium supplementation.
