Suggest Remedy For Lack Of Verbal Skills When Having Dementia

Question: My husband has a strong ocurence of Alzheimers in his family (every female on his maternal side has either died from or is in a facility for the desease. He has exhibited the onset of a type of dementia for over a year, he had a complete break down on 12/14/14, got agressive verbally and ended up beating the heck out of me for no reason that I could tell. He had a stroke three days later and couldn't talk or use his right side. Now, yesterday, he was getting up by himself and talking in a complete sentence. Today he has gone back to one word muttering and inappriate answers. It this normal and do they have good days and then revert back to the non responsive and lackof verbal skills. He is in a nursing home and has PT daily.
Brief Answer:
Lack of verbal skills mostly due to stroke.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Dementia consists mostly of problems related to memory, orientation and progressive difficulty with daily activities.
Dementia and its related symptoms worsen gradually as time passes.
There might be intervals that the patients may seem to function and communicate better than usual, but speech disorders are more attributable to stroke than dementia.
Fluctuations of communication may be observed in stroke too.
