Continue with Metolar

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
See if you will keep searching for side effects you can't find a single drug with any side effect.
Even drug like Paracetamol have side effects!!
As far as inducing diabetes is concerned, that is not an established and well proved side effect of Metoprolol. At age of 56 years, this is best drug for you. And even in rare instance if you develop hyperglycemia that won't be that much that it would cause you harm at this age.
Metoprolol is a very good drug for Hypertension as it also has cardio protective properties.
So there is no point in switching to another drug as this is suiting you very well. I can suggest you a lot many drugs for Hypertension but they also have there side effects!!
So the drug you are taking has a rare side effect that too is just claimed in studies.
I would advise you to carry on with this.
If you have any further query feel comfortable to ask me.
Stay Healthy.
