Suggest Remedy For Moles In Groin Area

Posted on Mon, 11 Jan 2016
Question: Hi, Just a silly question - I have regular skin check-up's with a dermatologist and all is okay. I do get a bit paranoid about my moles and just wanted to ask a question about this one (photo attached). I've had this for ages and it's stays the same (and have others similar). Just wanted to check it looks okay to you as its not perfectly round, and also as it's near my groin do I have to worry about my clothes (underpants/jeans) rubbing on it?

Brief Answer:
This looks Ok to me

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern. I have also reviewed the Image.

This seems like a intradermal nevus, since it is almost pink Or skin colored.

The character of a mole depends more on the change that it undergoes over time rather than a single odd factor (Out of the ABCD criteria) like asymmetry or shape Or if the mole is significantly different from the majority of other moles on the body (ugly duckling sign). A mole which has stayed the same ever since, is smooth, uniform color, well defined and regular margins is benign even if it is not perfectly oval Or round in shape.

Thank you! So it looks okay? And do I have to worry about it rubbing on clothes?

Brief Answer:
Not to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Yes, it looks ok to me. Occasionally, a mole may become irritated by shaving or by clothes rubbing. Irritation will not cause a mole to turn malignant a mole. However, an individual may want to have his/her mole removed if it is frequently irritated.
