Suggest Remedy For Muscle Inflammation

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Dec 2015
Question: I was diagnosed with inflammation between my ribs in my muscles. Last Monday and got a steroid shot. The next day pain worsened. Had a d dimer and it was 854. Had CT done and it was good. The NP told me not to worry about the d dimer. So two days later I had it repeated at it was down 100 points. But I just want reassurance that the inflammation I had could be the cause of the d dimer elevated. I also have few bruises on my legs. Otherwise I'm a healthy person. I did ask a MD on here the other day but wanted to ask again since I've had a repeat lab.

This is common in inflammation..And normal CT rules out something serious

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

D-Dimers can be raised in inflammation and then their levels can settle as the inflammation gets under control. This seems like what happened in your case.

Here I would say excerpt from a research which says..

"D-dimer levels may be elevated in the setting of pregnancy, inflammation, malignancy, trauma, postsurgical treatment, liver disease (decreased clearance), and heart disease."

REFRENCES: Am J Cardiol. 2014; 114(7):1129-30 (ISSN: 1879-1913)

Cervellin G; Bonfanti L; Picanza A; Lippi G

I would suggest you not to panic things seem to be settling down , this is found to be a normal finding in patient with inflammation.

I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regrads.
