Question: Yes, about 6 mos. ago I had an obstructed small intestine...after colonoscopy, endoscopy, etc., was told I have adhesions in my intestines. After changing my diet somewhat and eating smaller meals, as well as taking stool softeners....I wondered about taking probiotics....like Culturelle. Any benefits? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
probbably yes, but it cant be harmful

Detailed Answer:
well, probiotics has its use in regulation of digestion and bowel motility. For someone with your disorder, probiotics may be beneficial since it is recommended to soften your stool, improve bowel motility, prevent bloating, prevent straining during defecation. adhesions are fibrous tissue which can obstruct bowel especially when there is bloating and unhealthy diet. so you should have probitocs in your diet but also eat high fibre food, vegetables, boiled food.a void fried food, alchohol, smoking and overeating. drink more fluids. if you start to feel pain, bloating, lack of bowel motions for more than 2 days then you should visit surgeon or gastroenterologist. Wish you good health. Regards
