Suggest Remedy For Pain And Difficulty In Walking When On Levothyroxine

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: I am taking levothryroxine 125 mcg once a day. I have noticed myself very nervous, jumping and highly irritable. Also aches in my legs to the point that it is sometimes difficult to walk without a great deal of pain. As of late I have also had 4 nose bleeds that just happen.

Brief Answer:
Need to investigate

Detailed Answer:
Good day,

Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Have you had a recent thyroid blood work or CBC ( complete blood count) ? If not, could you get one done ?.

And regarding the pain in legs, do you have any redness or swelling there?
Regarding the nose bleeds, it could be from hypertension/dryness or even due to low platelets. CBC will show the platelet count. Are you on aspirin ? How is your blood pressure control ?

Regards
Binu

I do take baby aspirin each evening. Last blood work done Mar 2, 2015, was told
all looked well and to continue taking levothyroxine. Blood pressure has been in 120/70 range until this week and it has risen 145/80 range. No swelling in legs or redness.

Brief Answer:
Withhold aspirin for few days

Detailed Answer:
Since your blood pressure is normal, then we need to look at other causes of nose bleeds. You need an ENT check up to look at the inside of your nostrils. May need to withhold Aspirin for few days and observe.

Regarding the leg pains, it is worth checking your calcium, ALP, Phosphorus, Vitamin D and CK levels. I presume you are not taking any cholesterol lowering pills. Even that can cause aches.
