default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: Hi :
I have had relapsing remitting MS for 15 years and by all accounts I'm doing well. I have pain and lot of stiffness in my back which has not improved even with a regular personal trainer, physical therapy and even a chiropractor. I'm also walking bent over and crooked. Could the stiffness be an MS symptom? Or?
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Imaging studies are needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Muscles stiffness is not an usual symptom of MS, in addition, your muscles stiffness could be related to MS if it occurred and before during periods of disease relapses.

In my opinion, you need vertebral column imaging studies to get done ( x-rays, MRI) in order to have a correct diagnosis of your concerns.

More probable conditions that may cause your symptoms are vertebral column arthrosis, degenative spine disease, herniated disc disease.

If these conditions are excluded after imaging studies results, then can be said that MS is causing those symptoms.

Hope you find the answer helpful.

I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.
